The Polara PedApp is designed to facilitate wireless activation and placement of pedestrian crossing requests, enhancing accessibility for all pedestrians. It is compatible with Polara iNS Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS). Notably, the application offers advanced features tailored for visually impaired users, including identification and real-time location of APS units. When activated, the app alerts pedestrians to nearby crossings and enables users to select their desired crossing point. The corresponding APS's locate tone amplifies to improve detectability, while the app transmits a push or actuation signal to initiate the pedestrian call or walk request. Additionally, the app provides audible indications for Walk, Don't Walk, and Pedestrian Clearance phases, with optional countdown alerts to assist user navigation during crossing intervals.
